The Eastern Virginia AHEC (EVAHEC), a program of Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), has worked since 1979 to develop and implement effective programs that span the educational continuum - from engaging middle and high school students' interest in health careers to supporting the clinical training of health professions students to providing for the educational and practice support needs of health care practitioners in rural areas. Emphasis is placed on the needs of rural and urban underserved communitites.
