Capital Area Health Education Center

Serving Charles City, Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, New Kent, Powhatan, and Richmond City.

Goal 1: Health Career Programs: Develop health careers recruitment programs for Virginia's students, especially under-represented and disadvantaged students.

Goal 2: Student and Resident Training: Support the community-based training of primary care health professions students, residents, and other health professions students in Virginia's underserved communities.

Goal 3: Practice Support Services: Provide educational and practice support systems for the Commonwealth's primary care providers.

Goal 4: Health Promotion and Disease Prevention: Collaborate with health, education, and human services organizations to achieve the shared goal of improved health and disease prevention for the citizens of the Commonwealth.

Health care workers are in short supply in several urban and rural communities throughout this region, despite growing demand for their services. To help these underserved communities attract and produce more health care professionals, the Capital AHEC engages in a wide array of education-based activities.

Capital AHEC is a Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign charity (CVC). Please see CVC website for more information.
